Do You Know What It Takes To Get Ahead In Your Company?

Women of SIFM is a newly formed group within the 57 year old Society of Insurance Financial Management. It provides female insurance executives a supportive environment in which to learn, share and deepen their understanding of the skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive, constantly evolving, global environment.

The Women of the SIFM provides opportunities to build one’s network and foster meaningful relationships, to encourage an open dialogue among members including providing advice on leadership behaviors, alternative issue resolution and support in advancing and enriching each other’s career.

Meetings are scheduled quarterly in January, May, July and November and are held at locations in the Metro New York area. To minimize disruption of attendees’ workday, meetings are held early morning. Each meeting includes breakfast and networking opportunities followed by a program. CPE credits are offered to participants who qualify.

Topic:Executive Presence: Do You Have It? Can You Get It?
There is considerable debate as to whether attributes such as charisma, leadership, and presence are available only to people who are born with them or if they can be acquired.  The optimistic view is that people can acquire them with enough desire, effort, and training. This seminar is a first step of self-discovery of the core attributes that you have inside you and on techniques that will help you project the “presence” that will help become more successful in your career. This seminar is important if you wish to project presence in situations such as:

  • formal presentations to senior executives or key customers
  • job interviews for outside opportunities or inside promotions
  • networking functions where you are meeting new people

SIFM has two trainers who will open your eyes and stimulate your mind with novel approaches.

Young Mi Park is Senior Vice President of Starnex Co., Ltd. and an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Business School where she teaches Executive Leadership. Her core competency is as a growth agent and builder of teams.  In her work, she activates links between corporate culture and achievement as well as unleashes inspiration and courage to contribute to high performing teams.  She has previously served in corporate leadership roles in general management, strategy and marketing. She has an MBA in Marketing, Strategy, Finance from the Kellogg School of Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management

Leon Fraser is an award-winning professor at Rutgers Business School and a director of their Executive Education corporate training programs.  He teaches MBA courses in which he evaluates at least 100 presentations a year.  He is also a faculty advisor and coach to students presenting in business case competitions. He has won a "Best Professor" award multiple times.  Prior to joining Rutgers, he held corporate positions including in the public policy and actuarial departments of Aetna Life & Casualty and government positions including legislative aide for the House Ways and Means Committee.  He has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
