John Swanick has over 40 years of experience in public accounting and management consulting serving both public and non-public clients within the financial services and insurance sectors.

He has assisted clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 on a range of engagements in audit, advisory, and tax, as well as corporate governance, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, new business development, talent management. His insurance clients include all elements of the insurance market, including property/casualty, life and annuity, health payers/providers, reinsurance and related brokers, agencies, program managers, and affiliates.

Formerly, John was with Grant Thornton where he helped build the insurance practice into one of the largest global and national practices at the firm. Prior to that, he co-founded Smart & Associates and grew the firm into the 23rd largest accounting and consulting firm in the US.

John earned a BS in accounting and was awarded an MBA in finance from Saint Joseph’s University. John is a licensed CPA as well as a licensed FLMI. He is the Executive Vice Present of the SIFM and a member of its Board of Directors.

He has authored and coauthored more than 100 articles on insurance hot topics and trends and has been a speaker at professional forums and seminars.
