Caldwell NJ — Sean Egan, president of the SIFM and partner in the New York Financial Service practice of KPMG, presented the SIFM 2022 Scholarship to Talha Sumra, a student at St. John’s University (New York). The award was presented at SIFM’s Quarterly Conference on December 7, 2021.
The SIFM Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship presented to a qualified student attending a top School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science who intends to seek a career in the insurance industry.
Mr. Egan congratulated Mr. Sumra for his dedication to his studies in the Risk Management and Insurance program at St. John’s University. His major is quantitative risk and insurance with a minor in finance. With a GPA of 3.65, he has been on the Dean’s List each semester, and was awarded a Scholastic Excellence Award. Talha will graduate in May 2023.
He has garnered certifications in Bloomberg Market Concepts: Fixed Income, Equities, Economic Indicators, Currency Markets; IBM Blockchain, and Google Data Analytics.
Mr. Sumra is also active in campus organizations including the Actuarial Club, Gamma Iota Sigma (Risk Management); the Economics and Finance Society; as well as the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
