At this time of the year, reflecting on the success we have enjoyed and looking forward to next year’s challenges, I wanted to thank each of you for your participation and membership in the SIFM. Thank you for making my first year as President memorable! I am encouraged by the success of this year’s conferences and membership growth and wanted to share some of our accomplishments with you.
First, please join me in welcoming our newest SIFM Sponsor, Deloitte LLP and their representative Michele Landon. Deloitte joins nine other sponsors who participate in our quarterly conferences and meetings providing topical presentations and support.
In addition to our quarterly conferences, we reintroduced the Women of SIFM and the Young Professionals groups. The September and November Women of SIFM meetings met with overwhelming participation. The Steering Committees for both groups are planning programs for 2024. Be on the lookout for announcements in January.
The SIFM is committed to providing opportunities to learn, share and develop a network of friends, colleagues, and industry resources. I invite you to attend our conferences and meetings to keep up on pioneering developments in technology and its applications. As you plan for next year, please reserve the following dates for our 2024 conferences: March 20, at EY in NYC; June 26, at Arcola Country Club in Paramus NJ; and the Annual Conference, September 8 – 11 at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
If you didn’t attend the Holiday Conference, you may have missed being introduced to the SIFM 2024 Scholarship winners – Stephanie Kandasammy a student at St. John’s University (New York) and Ashley Rodgers a student at Saint Joseph’s University (Philadelphia). These young women are accomplished both as students and as leaders within their universities. Take a look at their backgrounds on SIFM.org and view their acceptance videos: https://www.sifm.org/wp/about/sifm-scholarships/
The SIFM Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship presented to a qualified student attending a top school of risk management, insurance and actuarial science who intends to seek a career in the insurance industry. This is our sixth year of awarding scholarships for the Spring semesters.
Part of the SIFM mission is to nurture the exchange of ideas among professionals in the insurance industry. We believe that the SIFM Scholarship affords students the opportunity to meet our members to foster an understanding of the exciting challenges facing the industry. Please reach out to the students when you get a chance.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the President’s Advisory Council, I wish you the joy of the season and a happy new year.
Sincerely,
John Yoon
