SIFM Awards 2025 Scholarship to a Student from St John’s University

Caldwell NJ — Yelena La Forgia, president of the Society of Insurance Financial Management (SIFM) and SVP & Chief Financial Officer of Aspen Insurance and Aspen US, presented the SIFM 2025 Scholarship to Filippos Koulouris, a student at Saint John’s University (New York). The award ceremony took place during SIFM’s Quarterly Conference on December 5th .

The SIFM Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship presented to a qualified student attending a top school of risk management, insurance and actuarial science who intends to seek a career in the insurance industry. SIFM believes in nurturing the exchange of ideas among professionals in the insurance industry. Ms. La Forgia noted that this “SIFM Scholarship not only supports academic achievement but also provides students with invaluable networking opportunities with seasoned professionals and executives in insurance, reinsurance, and advisory firms, enriching their understanding of the industry’s complex challenges.”

Ms. La Forgia applauded Mr. Koulouris for his outstanding academic performance and also for pursuing internships with Zurich North America, Sompo International and Partner Re. In addition, he is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma, and volunteers with the IRS Vita program with the Food Bank for New York City, assisting low-income individuals with tax filing. Mr. Koulouris will graduate in December 2025 with a BS in with risk management and insurance with a current GPA of 3.85.
