Porreca – VP and CFO, Texas Life Insurance Co.
Ms. Porreca has over 20 years of experience in financial services. She is a motivational change agent, who is responsible for fostering behavioral change within her organization to reimagine the finance function of the future. Maria’s vision is to institutionalize new ways of working to encourage and build greater collaboration, inclusivity and belonging that result in creativity, long term value and sustainability.
As CFO of Texas Life, a subsidiary of Wilton Re, Ms. Porreca is leading the financial team’s transformation – to be a center of support and partner with all business units while assisting in setting the company’s overall vision and strategy. In addition to nurturing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the board of directors, she and her team are responsible for controllership, actuarial, treasury and financial planning & analysis including capital and expense management. As a member of the company’s return to the office committee, she has been instrumental in navigating the impact of COVID on the business.
Prior to joining Texas Life, Maria worked at AIG holding various roles in general insurance FP&A during the transformation. She transitioned from general insurance to corporate finance to support the newly established legacy finance team which included the development of the target operating model and managing the operational aspects of standing-up the finance function which included the formation of DSA Re and transition to Fortitude Re, a composite reinsurance company.
Ms. Porreca earned a BA in international relations and women’s studies from Syracuse University. She is a graduate of the Harvard Business School general management program. She is a member of Chief, an exclusive network for female leaders and The Harvard Club.
